How’s life everyone? It’s Maja here with my To Be Read list for 2016! I am quite the reader, so I have developed a list of books I plan to read throughout the year ahead…
#1 We All Looked Up Tommy Wallach
I bought this book probably half way through last year and haven’t really got around to reading it yet. I picked it up in Dymocks mainly because of its cool cover, and from reading the blurb it sounds very good. We All Looked Up is about how a group of very different teenagers have two months to really live and make the most of their life – before a meteorite hits the earth. Sounds like my kind of story.
#2 The Hobbit J. R. R. Tolkien
My little brother actually found this book in a second hand store, and – being the nice, caring sister that I am – am planning to steal it and read it. I actually have no idea at all what The Hobbit is about, I have seen 30 minutes of the first movie and got bored… But from what I have heard, the book is much better than the film, so I’m very excited to read it.
#3 Me and Earl and the Dying Girl Jesse Andrews
The movie was absolutely incredible, so I have very high expectations for this book. Basically, the story is about an insecure teenage boy named Greg who has a friend called Earl (who is hilarious, might I add) and lives near a girl who has been recently diagnosed with leukemia. Greg’s mum insists that he makes friends with the girl, Rachel, to support her while she uptakes chemotherapy. The movie was really quirky and heart warming, and I am looking forward immensely to reading the book.
#4 A Thousand Pieces of You Claudia Grey
This book was given to me as a gift from a relative last year, and again, I haven’t got around to reading it yet. The only knowledge that I have of this book is that it is about time and dimensional travel, which sounds absolutely awesome. I love going into stories virtually blind, so this will be a great read.
#5 Fangirl Rainbow Rowell
I have heard soooooo much praise for this book and author, and I am embarrassed to say I still haven’t read it… well, I was reading it, until it become over due at the library and I had to return it. I have read one book by Rainbow Rowell, and book called LandLine that was phenomenal, so I really want to finish FanGirl. The story is about a girl called Cath who is starting college with her identical twin. Cath is a pretty well known FanFic writer, and cares more about the world of Simon Snow (the story’s Harry Potter) than about going out and getting a boyfriend. From how much I have read, the book is hilarious, so I am determined to finish it this year.
#6 The Book Thief Markus Zusak
I watch the movie with my mum once it was released, and as she had a copy of the book I have planned to read it for a long time. I have always been quite interested in World War 2, and The Book Thief is a story about the Nazis and how the War affected families. The movie was very good, and I’m looking forward to reading the book.
#7 Lola and the Boy Next Door Stephanie Perkins
The first book in this series, Anna and the French Kiss, was probably the sappiest, typical romantic book I have ever read. But I loved it. And, after searching every library in my hometown, I still haven’t found the sequel. Yet. This series really is awesome, so if you are like me and love chick lit, I seriously recommend reading these books.
#8 Eleanor & Park Rainbow Rowell
Like FanGirl, I have read soooo much good praise for this book. I think it is just this author… Rainbow, you are amazing 🙂 I have read little snippets of this story and have been desperate to get my hands on it for the longest time. A story about two misfits who bond over graphic novels and music, I am already in love with the plot. And I have’t even read it yet.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this post, I hope this TBR also gave you inspiration to get your book on this year. Maybe there might be a book favorites post in the future… 🙂 Catch you in my next post. Maja xo
